Israeli scholar Maya Wind explains that Israeli universities have played a crucial role in claiming Jewish sovereignty over historic Palestine. They serve as settlement outposts on stolen lands, warehouses of looted books, and militarized bases used by the state to displace Palestinians.

Lund University collaborates with four of these universities, and lies about it on their website. LU has on several occasions sent police to remove peaceful students protesting. Hebrew University openly supports Operation Iron Swords – Israel’s name for the genocide in Gaza – and boasts of providing equipment to Israeli soldiers. In a video on the university’s Instagram, a soldier explains benefits for students who serve in the army.

Ben-Gurion University was built to encourage Israeli immigration to the Naqab (Negev) desert, 20 years after Israel brutally expelled 80% of its Palestinian population. This is part of a strategic plan to replace the indigenous population with settlers – the ultimate goal for any colonial state.
