Palestinian flags waving above Universitetshuset!

These days mark the beginning of the graduation ceremonies in Uppsala. While Uppsala celebrates its successful doctors and students, academics in Gaza are being murdered every day and, even if they survive, their education and research are stolen from them.
In the meantime, the University keeps on being silent about the genocide in Gaza and the occupation and apartheid oppressing Palestinians. During this time, the Student Intifada raises the flags of freedom over our university that still collaborates with complicit institutions. We thank those who brought this symbol of freedom on the facade of Universitetshuset! Free Palestine!

Day 11 (!) of protesting Stockholm University’s hypocritical silence on Israel’s ongoing genocide of Palestinians.

We woke to a cold and soaked camp, yet acutely aware of our immense privilege in contrast to the hell that the apartheid state of Israel has unleashed on the people in Gaza.

At our morning briefing, a young girl came by with her mother, handing out roses to all the members of the camp. These heartwarming interactions means more to us than you can imagine 🌹

Of course, we also had to give our dear president Astrid a greeting and knock on the door 🥁✊🏽 as part of our demonstration around campus.

P.S. the sign on the second slide is a reference to Astrid’s cowardly response (“then is then and now is now”) to our pointing out how she ended all co-operation with Russia but refuses to do the same with Israel.

‼️ STATEMENT ON OUR MEETING WITH PRESIDENT ASTRID SÖDERBERGH WIDDING ‼️

On the tenth day of the encampment at Lund University, a demonstration took place in the streets of Lund and with the loudest voices, everyone shouted that all students have the right to life, education and freedom, and that Palestine is free from the sea to the river, and the necessity of boycotting Israeli companies that support genocide.

Join us for our public meeting!

More than 200 members of staff at Uppsala University signed an open letter in support of our demands, showing the strength of our struggle. We must continue putting pressure on the university to fulfill our demands!

Come to our camp and show that we, who work and study at Uppsala University, find it completely reasonable to refuse collaboration with institutions who enable the violation of international law.

During the first ten days of encampment, many people came by to better understand what we are doing, to contribute with food and facilities, to eat with us, to participate in the various activities we are organizing or to spend a night in a tent.

To strengthen the network we are building and to imagine a common path for the next steps, we will hold a public meeting on Tuesday 28 May in Engelska Parken at 6 pm, marking two weeks of the camp at the Free University of Gaza – Uppsala Campus.

JOIN US ON TUESDAY!
NO ONE IS FREE UNTIL EVERYONE IS FREE!

Samar Al Fara was a PhD student preparing to defend her doctoral thesis. She died from kidney failure due to drinking polluted water and living in unsafe conditions due to Israeli actions in Gaza.

As Uppsala University “celebrates” its doctoral students, the cannon sounds remind us of the realities of doctoral students in Gaza, such as Samar Al Fara. We stand in solidarity with students in Palestine who were denied the opportunity to graduate.

Our institution is complicit in the ongoing genocide against Palestinians. Uppsala University, end collaborations with institutions actively supporting and enabling the genocide!
