A week of Free University of Gaza – campus Uppsala! Here’s the plan for the day 🍉

How did the university choose to support academic freedom? By closing off its doors to all students!
They did so just because as Academics for Palestine we continue to draw attention to the genocide in Gaza. While some members of the university refer to our protests as incidents, we will keep raising our voices to draw attention to the real problems. Concerned with academic freedom, we will continue advocating our demands for the university to:
– provide support to Palestinian scholars and students, knowing that thousands of them have been killed and that all universities in Gaza have been destroyed
– cut ties with complicit Israeli institutions, knowing that we collaborate with universities that actively support and enable the genocide
NO ONE IS FREE UNTIL EVERYONE IS FREE!

The sun has been shining on the camp today! We have renamed our camp to Palestinadammen, and we will stay here until the university is taking responsibility✊

Today we were loud in Segerstedthuset and Blåsenhus! We repeatedly asked that our vice chancellor would come to our camp and talk to us about our demands to the university. Once again, our request was not listened to. Instead, after we left, the university decided to hide behind locked doors, closing off access to Segerstedthuset to its own students, defining our protests as “incidents”. Apparently, hearing us take a stand against genocide was “unpleasant” to members of the staff. Fortress Uppsala, we will not tire in holding you accountable until you end your collaborations with zionism and genocide!

WALK IN TOMORROW! Let’s visit every camp together and inform everyone of our university’s collaborations with genocide! See you at Engelska Parken at 11:15 or at your campus later during the day.

OBS: for logistics reasons we won’t be in Blåsenhus tomorrow. If that’s your campus you’re welcome in Engelska Parken or in another nearby campus!
